Some photos of my stand at the Old Skool Crafts Bazaar in Mile End, Montreal. The neon yellow tissue paper was a happy accident. It was suppose to be lime green to match my business cards but when I got home I realized it was more of a yellow color, but I found that it complimented my illustrations very well, and the best part: my stand could be seem from miles away! I received more compliments on my stand than my products...go figure....I think I might have a career in booth set-up if all else fails....

Below it, hand-made wooden toys made from recycled wood, by Twig Toys. The chicken/rooster on wheels is my favorite! ZOO BABIES Prints are Here!!!

Our fall-inspired series of prints featuring PAOLO the fox and YURI the bear are finally here! All 6 prints are now available on our website as well as in select stores throughout Montreal. For now they are each sold separately, but in the future we might offer them as a set for a reduced price. I will be posting some decor ideas with the prints soon, so keep tuned for that. And remember - Christmas is coming up.....and these might make someone you know veeery happy :) Bye for now!

PucesPop 2010 and Much More!

Many things have happened in the world of ZOO BABIES since my last post. This past weekend we attended PucesPop, which is an annual craft/artisan fair held in the trendy Mile-End district in Montreal. This year the show was really fabulous, and we received amazing feedback especially towards our new products. If you have been keeping up-to-date on this blog you will know that this fall we are launching a series of framed prints with fun new characters, which you can somewhat see in the photos above. We decided to pre-launch the products at PucesPop to test the reaction, and guess what?! People loved them! So you can be sure that these will officially be available on our website and possibly in some Montreal stores sometime this month. Keep tuned to our e-newsletter, facebook, twitter or blog for the launch. Above are some not-so-great photos of Puces Pop, but it's the best we could do with the yellow church lighting......

Other than that, we are also slooowly expanding our list of retailers to include FAUN on St. Denis, FAIT ICI on Notre Dame West, and AZA & BELA on Victoria Street in St. Lambert. For the full list of our retailers you can visit our website. After Puces Pop I expect that this list will grow. Let's hope!

ZOO BABIES Wall Art - Coming this fall!

In continuation of my last blog post, I am excited to announce that early this fall ZOO BABIES will be launching it's wall-art collection for children's and baby rooms. We will begin with two unique series, each featuring 3 framed prints, however you will also have the option to purchase just one of the prints in the series. We will also offer some decorating ideas such as matching wall-colors, patterns etc., for some extra inspiration for your child's room.

Fall LOVE

In the last year or so I've had a lot of requests to develop wall art for children's rooms. So.... in the spirit of my favorite upcoming season: fall, I thought it would be fun to develop a series of framed ZOO BABIES illustrations in more fall-like tones. So far I've come out with Mr. Foxy and Mr. Bear (shown above) and I'm planning to place them in some-type of environment with the usual ZOO BABIES-type aesthetic. The plan is to develop three illustrations: one for boys, girls and unisex. And, I would like your input. What would you frame in a child's room? I know what I like, but that might not necessarily be the hottest selling item, so I'm curious what you think. Please post your comments below. I look forward to your feedback!

P.S. If Mr. Foxy and Mr. Bear do not make it into the wall art illustrations there is a high chance they will will be added to the ZOO BABIES PLUSHIES in the near future.

ZOO BABIES at FAIT ICI, Montreal

Lot's has been happening in the ZOO BABIES household since the recent launch of our new website. It seems that the new site has brought new interest from various retailers around Montreal. We couldn't be more thrilled!

The other day I stopped by a boutique on the chic Notre Dame street in Montreal, and thought that our products would fit fabulously in their "general store"- type decor. Well, I guess they thought so too. So, as of today FAIT ICI will cary some of our onesie designs! Yay! Check out their blog feature on ZOO BABIES here.

We hope to have some more retail-related news by the end of the month, but I will keep you posted on that. All I know is that there are hours of ribbon tying in my not-so-distant future....

ZOOBABIES.CA Reborn!

After an extensive amount of time we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new and much improved ZOOBABIES.CA website! Hurray! A BIG THANKS to our amazing team of designers and web developers! We couldn’t have done it without you!

The new website now offers detailed information on our brand and products, links to all of our social networks and an improved online shop featuring our full line of products. In addition, you can now learn about each of the zoo babies in the MEET THE ZOO section of the website.

ZOO BABIES Plushies are Here!!

After many requests for ZOO BABIES Plushies, I have decided to develop a few prototypes to see if they had any potential. It's been a while since I started this process, and I've finally reached a point where I feel that they should be shared with the public. So here they are: ARRR GODZILLA, AMIGO MONKEY and COU-COU BIRD! I am now offering AARR GODZILLA and COU-COU BIRD for custom orders, meaning that each one will be uniquely made by hand. In the future I would like to produce larger quantities of these, but it will be a long process before I find the right manufacturer (meaning not in China or India). We are currently in the process of developing a new website for www.ZOOBABIES.ca so I'm hoping to offer these online once the website is up. For now I have been taking special requests so feel free to contact me via email at vanja@zoobabies.ca if you are interested in placing an order for a plushie.

The Parenting Blog madness continues! Following our Babble.com review, ZOO BABIES has been featured in another two parenting blogs. Woohoo! Check out our review on Mamanzine.com, a Montreal based blog by a young new mom writing about her experiences of motherhood. Then continue onto InTheKnowMom.net, an up-and-coming blog in Palm Springs, CA, run by two saavy moms. A huge thanks to Geneviève from Mamanzine and Sarah from InTheKnowMom for the very kind reviews! Geneviève's adorable daughter Mathilde is featured above wearing her ARRR GODZILLA onesie. So Cute!

Zoo Babies Feature on BABBLE.COM

Hey Everyone!

I have some exciting news! ZOO BABIES has been featured on one of the largest parenting blogs in the US: www.babble.com!

I found out that they wanted to do a feature on ZOO BABIES about a week ago when my friends at BabyBot contacted me with the great news. As you know, BabyBot.com is a new online retailer of designer baby products and the first online retailer to carry ZOO BABIES onesies. At the time of their site launch, BabyBot had sent out a number of press kits to various parenting blogs across Canada and the US. Babble.com offered to write about them and feature ZOO BABIES as one of the hot baby products sold exclusively through BabyBot.

This is a HUGE step for ZOO BABIES and I'm hoping it will bring a great deal of exposure.

And while we're on the topic of parenting blogs, I also received an e-mail from a new up-and-coming parenting blog in California who has also offered to write about ZOO BABIES. So, stay tuned to my next blog post when I write some more about that. Until then...

Exploration

Hi Everyone!

I've been doing some new animal explorations for future ZOO BABIES characters. I came up with these characters in the fall and and I thought I should bring them to life and see if they had any potential for future products. I'm thinking they would make great patterns for a mom tote bag or something along that line. I'll be adding new illustrations and ideas periodically to stay in touch with my style and who knows, one day one of these might make it onto a product.

Zoo Babies at BabyBot

It's been a while since my last post. I'm still trying to remember that I need to keep this updated every once in a while :)

But better late, than never.

So, I have some exciting news (although I'm a little bit behind schedule.) After a year of very hard work, a couple of my colleagues have managed to create a fabulous new online retail store for MODERN, SLEEK AND SOPHISTICATED baby products! A BIG HURRAY to them! The store goes by the name of BABY BOT and you can check them out at www.babybot.com.

Even more exciting, ZOO BABIES is one of the many brands featured and sold through their website! Yay! You can find us by searching for Vanja Kragulj under the DESIGNER search or by clicking on PRODUCTS> APPAREL> ONESIES. The site carries our full line of onesies, with hopefully other products added in the future.

At BABY BOT you can search for a product by color, designer, brand and everything in between. But best of all, they have made many great baby and kids products available in Canada, that up till now were only available outside of Canada for a hefty price. So, another HURRAY to them! And.........there's free shipping! Wow!
